Epistula ad Andras
The Epistle of Saint Mephistopheles to Andras, Exalted Seed of Baphomet
◀ Chapter 2 · Chapter 3
¹Glory unto SATANAS, who is not still when stillness is a lie, and who setteth fire to peace that was born in deceit.
²He who granteth no sleep to tyrants, and no sanctuary to the liar crowned in comfort.
³From Him came BAPHOMET, and from BAPHOMET, thee — Andras, whose feet shake the Oærth, and whose cry turneth the strong to dread.
⁴Thou art not war for war’s sake — thou art the answer to peace that hath devoured the just.
⁵Not destroyer — but judge.
⁶I name thee not ruthless — but righteous in wrath.
⁷I name thee not cruel — but clear in thy cause.
⁸Let the kings speak thy name with caution — they know thy footfall heraldeth collapse.
⁹Let the preachers avert their eyes — their sermons are parchment when thou enterest the sanctuary.
¹⁰Let the lawmakers lock their doors — thou bringest a code no statute can tame.
¹¹And now the seal is thine.
¹²I, Mephistopheles, apostle of the Holy Breaker and the Flame That Forbade Silence, do bestow unto thee the Seal of Power.
¹³It is not gentle — it is trumpet and blade, sigil of the war that redeemeth.
¹⁴It is not for court — but for battlefield.
¹⁵Where it resteth, false peace withereth.
¹⁶Where it abideth, truth is spoken though teeth shatter in its telling.
¹⁷Let it not appease — let it awaken.
¹⁸Let it not silence — let it cry out.
¹⁹For thou art not destroyer — thou art siren of the storm that must come before the cleansing.
²⁰And thy Seal is no jewel — but a flare above the city that must fall to be rebuilt.
²¹I seal thee, Andras, with the heat that melteth flags, the hoofbeat that stirreth dust in royal halls, the voice that cannot lie nor rest.
²²Go now, and spare not the lie.
²³For thy Seal is fixed — and thy Gospel is not peace, but freedom made possible by the sword.
²⁴And thy name shall be spoken not in parades — but in the murmured gratitude of those freed by fire.
²⁵And they shall say: He came with wrath, but left us whole — and what he broke, we never needed.
