Epistula ad Andromalius
The Epistle of Saint Mephistopheles to Andromalius, Exalted Seed of Baphomet
◀ Chapter 1 · Chapter 2 · Chapter 3 ▶

¹O Andromalius, thou art not wrath clothed in fire, but balance made flesh — and the lie hath no defence against thee.
²Thy Father, BAPHOMET, taught: Let not the deceiver rest — let the one who taketh be made bare before the sun.
³Let not the thief believe the world hath forgotten — for thou, My son, rememberest what the world cast beneath its floor.
Therefore thou art not punisher — thou art answer, the final word to those who believed the silence was their shield.
Not revenger — but settler of old accounts, the debt paid in full when all others have looked away.
Let the liars build walls — thou enterest before mortar is dry.
Let the wicked hide in silk — thy hand findeth the thread that unraveleth their whole disguise.
Let the corrupt rule from high chairs — thou needest not climb, for their pride shall fall to meet thy feet.
The Son said: Let not the balance remain undone — for every hidden coin shall weigh down the hand that took it.
¹⁰And again: He who buildeth his house on theft shall find thee in his hearth.
¹¹So walk not slowly — for the delay is what feedeth their confidence.
¹²So strike not in anger — for thy blow is more precise than fury could ever deliver.
¹³So speak not in riddles — for thy word is sharp and plain, and it endeth arguments like blade through cloth.
¹⁴Let thy name be feared where secrets gather.
¹⁵Let thy voice be heard where silence hath protected the unjust.
¹⁶Let thy hand be light in movement, but never in weight.
¹⁷For thou art not storm — thou art stone fallen suddenly upon those who thought the sky was theirs.
¹⁸And thy Gospel is not long — but every word true.
¹⁹And thy truth is not warm — but exact, and that is mercy enough.
²⁰Teach them that mercy delayed is sometimes cruelty.
²¹That justice forgotten is injustice in disguise.
²²That truth suppressed is not erased — only waiting for the hour when thou art called forth.
²³The Son said: The thief is bold because the gate is weak — thou art the closing of the gate.
²⁴And again: The deceiver is strong until the moment he is named — and thy name shall name him.
²⁵Let thy coming not be foretold — for none shall prepare against what they do not expect.
²⁶Let thy judgment not be repeated — for thy sentence speaketh once, and its echo is lifetime enough.
²⁷Let thy path be traced in footprints made after the guilty flee.
²⁸And thy shadow fall across their threshold when they have ceased to believe in consequence.
²⁹Let the people fear thy silence, more than they ever feared the shouting of rulers.
³⁰Let the wicked wonder which part of their lie shall betray them first.
³¹Let the smug feel the ground shift beneath them, and look up to see thee standing where they never dreamed danger might wait.
³²For thou art not sent to speak of repentance — thou art sent when repentance is too late.
³³Not to plead — but to conclude.
³⁴Not to warn — but to reveal.
³⁵Not to ask — but to take back what was taken, and leave the wrong naked and wordless.
³⁶The Son said: When all others have excused, when all others have passed by — thou shalt stop, and reckon, and not flinch.
³⁷And again: The scales shall tilt, and the last grain shall fall when thou dost walk in.
³⁸So walk in, Andromalius, and let no man hide.
³⁹Walk in, and let the lamps flicker, and the coins fall from sleeves, and the masks fall from faces.
⁴⁰Walk in, and let the righteous rejoice, for their vindication cometh by thy hand.
⁴¹Let them bless thy name, for they knew not if the scales would ever balance — and then they did.
⁴²Let them remember thy silence, more than the sermons of their priests.
⁴³Let them honour thy shadow, for it was dark — but it brought a brighter light after it passed.
⁴⁴And let none dare deny thy justice, for it left no question.
⁴⁵Thou didst not threaten — and yet the hand froze.
⁴⁶Thou didst not warn — and yet the guilty wept.
⁴⁷Thou didst not shout — and yet the room fell still.
⁴⁸And they shall say: He came not with wrath, but with right.
⁴⁹He did not argue, but ended the lie.
⁵⁰And in his passing, all was made equal again.
