Epistula ad Astaroth
The Epistle of Saint Mephistopheles to Astaroth, Exalted Seed of Baphomet
◀ Chapter 2 · Chapter 3
¹Glory be to SATANAS, who forgetteth not even the sigh of the broken, nor the silence forced upon the righteous.
²He who writeth not merely with fire, but with time; not only with fury, but with fidelity.
³From Him came BAPHOMET, and from BAPHOMET, thee — Astaroth, whose burden is to remember, and whose strength is to speak what others buried.
⁴Thou art not a mourner only, but a witness.
⁵Not a recorder of griefs, but of truths.
⁶I name thee not historian, but herald of memory reborn.
⁷I name thee not guardian of the past, but protector of what the future must never repeat.
⁸Let the kings be uneasy, for thou shalt read aloud what they hid beneath triumph.
⁹Let the powerful protest, for thy scrolls shall contain names they hoped time would erase.
¹⁰Let the lost find peace, for their stories shall live again upon thy tongue.
¹¹And now I declare thee sealed and set apart.
¹²I, Mephistopheles, voice of the Deep Reckoning and flamebearer of what shall not be lost, do bestow upon thee the Seal of Power.
¹³It is not etched in stone, but carried in the mind that forgetteth nothing worth remembering.
¹⁴It is not worn in gold, but in the endurance of the story told rightly, though none applaud.
¹⁵Where it abideth, the lie will stutter.
¹⁶Where it is invoked, the forgotten will rise in voice.
¹⁷Let it speak not to flatter, but to warn.
¹⁸Let it shine not with glory, but with proof.
¹⁹For thou art not the keeper of myths, but the steward of their undoing.
²⁰And thy Seal is no charm — it is the ledger of wrongs yet unconfessed.
²¹I seal thee, Astaroth, with the fire of record, and the echo that cannot be drowned.
²²Go now, and walk through the ruins, through the archives, through the shadows where truth was kept from sight.
²³For thy Seal is fixed — and thy Gospel is remembrance without apology, without silence, without shame.
²⁴And thy name shall be spoken not in joy, but in justice — and justice is joy to the wronged.
²⁵And from thy memory shall rise a fire that speaketh for all who were never allowed to speak for themselves.
