Epistula ad Bathin
The Epistle of Saint Mephistopheles to Bathin, Exalted Seed of Baphomet
◀ Chapter 2 · Chapter 3

¹Praise be to SATANAS, who calleth not all to speak, but some to walk, and some to vanish.
²He who createth the trail unseen, the journey unnamed, and the silence that answereth more than thunder.
³From Him came BAPHOMET, and from BAPHOMET, thee — Bathin, whose tread stirreth memory and whose presence awakeneth departure.
Thou art not the voice of command, but the hush that maketh the heart ask, Wherefore have I not moved?
Not the fire upon the altar, but the ember in the ash that warmeth those willing to search.
I name thee not pathmaker, but shadowwalker.
I name thee not leader, but revealer of the unseen door.
Let them say thou art gone — thou art merely elsewhere.
Let them say they cannot follow — that meaneth they have not yet begun.
¹⁰Thou art not the road — thou art the hunger for it.
¹¹And now cometh the hour of anointing.
¹²I, Mephistopheles, bearer of the Quiet Flame and scribe of the Deep Way, do bestow upon thee the Seal of Power.
¹³It is not engraved in metal, but in footsteps that vanish.
¹⁴It is not seen by the many, but felt by the few who have dared to step beyond knowing.
¹⁵Where it passeth, comfort shall falter.
¹⁶Where it lingereth, the stagnant shall stir.
¹⁷Let it blaze not in hand, but in heel.
¹⁸Let it burn not in eye, but in distance.
¹⁹For thou art not witness — thou art way.
²⁰And thy seal is not banner — it is beckoning.
²¹I seal thee, Bathin, with the flame that refuseth the familiar.
²²Go forth, and let none trace thy full path, yet let all be changed by thine absence.
²³For thy seal is fixed — and the silent journey shall follow after thee.
²⁴And the Flame of Wandering shall rest within thy shadow.
²⁵And thy Gospel shall be known only by those who have lost their way — and found it sacred.
