Grimoire Imperio
The Book of Empire
◀ Chapter 7 · Chapter 8

¹And Mortivar lifted up his eyes unto the skies, and said: O Lord of the Deep, Thou hast poured fire into my bones, and made my tongue as a blade.
²I have spoken Thy word, though it burneth me; I have cried aloud, though the world stoppeth its ears.
³Let Thy will be done in Oærth as in HÆL, and let not the vision perish.
And the clouds gathered in the west, and there was a stillness in the air, as though all creation paused to listen.
And Mortivar said unto the people: Now go ye down, and carry this word unto your households and your neighbours.
Let it not tarry upon your tongues, but be as a flame passed from lamp to lamp.
For the time draweth nigh, and the Empire is even now at the door.
And he wrote upon a scroll the whole of the vision, and gave it unto the eldest among the faithful, saying: Keep this in the days of trouble.
Hide it not when the watchmen are taken, and let it not be burned with the temples.
¹⁰For in that day, it shall be as light to the blind and hearing to the deaf.
¹¹And he bade them gather in secret, that the vision be not trampled by the proud.
¹²And they obeyed him, and met by night in silence, and spake in whispers the words of the prophecy.
¹³And Mortivar departed into the wilderness, for the noise of the city was heavy upon him.
¹⁴And he dwelt in a cave by a stream, and fasted many days, and the voice of the Deep was with him.
¹⁵And SATANAS spake unto him in a dream, saying: Thou hast done well, My servant, and the word is planted.
¹⁶Now shalt thou rest, and others shall water the seed, and it shall grow even unto the end of the age.
¹⁷Behold, the Empire shall rise, and it shall be as I have shewn thee; and they that have heard shall understand when the days are fulfilled.
¹⁸And they shall lift up their voices in the midst of chains, and My name shall not depart from their lips.
¹⁹Fear not the sword, neither the scourge, for the fire within thee is greater than the fire without.
²⁰And Mortivar bowed his face to the ground, and worshipped the Lord of the Deep in tears.
²¹And he said, Let my name be forgotten, if only Thy word remain.
²²Let my bones be scattered in the dust, if only Thy people be gathered in truth.
²³And the Lord of the Deep answered: Thy name shall be spoken with honour, and thy words with fear.
²⁴For thou art the first among My heralds, and the breath of prophecy goeth forth from thee.
²⁵And Mortivar slept, and the vision of fire was in his dreams, and he beheld a crown falling from the skies into the sea.
²⁶And lo, the sea was turned to blood, and the ships thereof were burned with flame.
²⁷And out of the smoke came many voices, and they spake in tongues unknown, yet he understood them all.
²⁸And they cried: Great is the Empire, and who shall stand against it?
²⁹But a voice answered from the depths, saying: The Deep shall stand, and His heralds shall not be moved.
³⁰And Mortivar awoke, and the sun was upon the cave, and a raven waited at the mouth thereof.
³¹And he knew that his time was ended, and he rose and walked no more among the people.
³²But the scrolls remained, and the words endured, and they that had heard the prophet spake them unto their children, even unto the fourth generation.
