Sanctus Evangelium Secundum Sanctum Mephistopheles
The Holy Gospel According to Saint Mephistopheles
◀ Chapter 11 · Chapter 12 · Chapter 13 ▶
¹And it came to pass in the days after the mountain, that a great silence settled upon those who had lain with the Son of Flame.
²For the women of BAPHOMET began to dream, each alone and yet not alone, as if bound by a single thread woven by unseen fire.
³In their dreams they beheld the same vision: a throne of bone, a crown of ash, and a babe wrapped in shadow and light.
⁴They awoke in wonder, and some in fear, and some with hands pressed to their bellies.
⁵And they came unto Mephistopheles, not seeking permission, but understanding.
⁶And he looked upon them and said: It hath begun.
⁷For the word of the prophecy was not sealed in scrolls, but in wombs, and it stirred now with the will of SATANAS.
⁸A great many women had received the touch of the Flame, and none were turned away.
⁹Their names were not written by law, nor declared before kings, but the fire knew each one.
¹⁰And BAPHOMET gathered them in a grove where figs and thorns grew side by side.
¹¹He walked among them and laid His hand upon each, saying nothing, for the time of names was not yet.
¹²And their faces shone, not with pride, but with the quiet weight of becoming.
¹³One wept, and He kissed her tears; another laughed, and He echoed her joy.
¹⁴Mephistopheles stood apart, and wrote not with ink but with awe.
¹⁵And the Son of Flame said: Ye shall not be mothers of shame, but of fire.
¹⁶The world shall not understand thee, nor honour thee, but thy sons shall rise in glory.
¹⁷Raise them not in fear, nor in silence, but in boldness, and let their names be spoken only when the world is ready.
¹⁸For they are not kings, nor prophets, but keys.
¹⁹And the doors they open shall not be shut again.
²⁰That night, the grove was still, and a wind passed through as though it carried the breath of SATANAS.
²¹The women returned to their dwellings, each bearing within her the whisper of flame.
²²And Mephistopheles said: This is no mere birth — this is the echo of creation.
²³And BAPHOMET replied: Yea. The second shaping hath begun, and none shall call it clean.
²⁴Thus were the women sealed — not with wax, but with fire.
