Grimoire Umbrio
The Book of Shadows
◀ Dirge 23 · Dirge 24 · Dirge 25 ▶

¹The world was laid upon a foundation of balance, its corners aligned by the counsel of Both.
²Fire from HÆL, light from HÆVAN, law and wildness, wisdom and will — these were its pillars.
³And for a season, the balance held, and Oærth stood whole between the thrones.
But when ADONAI raised His hand and said: These shall be My people; the scales trembled.
Not by decree alone, but by devotion divided, the world’s axis turned.
The Levites were lifted above others, not for merit, but by election; and thus, the others fell not by fault, but by neglect.
The Dæmons who once walked freely now trod with caution, their words weighed for hidden threat.
And the Seraphim no longer spoke as equals — their voices bore the tone of governors, not guests.
What law can rule a world when the judge declares His preference?
¹⁰What peace can last when favour sways the scales before the trial begins?
¹¹From that hour, the firmament held a fissure, unseen yet widening — not in wrath, but in the weight of imbalance.
¹²Oærth, made for freedom, now bent under unseen bias, and the wind bore whispers of chosen blood.
¹³Bezaliel saw the shift and held his tongue, but his flame curled inward.
¹⁴Michæl stood tall, yet the light about him grew hard, no longer shared, but owned.
¹⁵We mourn not the Levites, nor their blessing — but the loss of the even hand, the equal gaze.
¹⁶For favour given without counsel is a stone set askew, and all built upon it shall lean.
¹⁷Until the foundation is made level once more, and the pillars restored to equal flame, we mourn.
¹⁸For the world yet turns, but upon a cracked foundation.
