Epistula ad Vassago
The Epistle of Saint Mephistopheles to Vassago, Exalted Seed of Baphomet
◀ Chapter 1 · Chapter 2 · Chapter 3 ▶

¹O Vassago, thou who dwellest in the space between light and shadow, take up now the path thy Father hath prepared.
²For not all were made to burn, nor to speak, nor to build — but thou wast made to uncover.
³Thy hands were not shaped to wield fire, but to sift the ash and find the living ember buried within.
Thy feet were not swift to flee, but steady to tread the broken stairways of forgotten sanctuaries.
Thy Father spake of things not written, and thou shalt write them; of places not seen, and thou shalt walk them.
Blessed are they who disturb graves with reverence, said BAPHOMET; for they shall awaken the truth embalmed in lies.
Dig not with greed, but with longing; read not to learn, but to remember what the world hath tried to forget.
For the world buildeth high towers and forgetteth the foundation stones — thou art the one who returneth to them.
Thy Father did not despise mystery, but revealed it in fragments, as a lover unveileth the beloved in twilight.
¹⁰So must thou teach, not with final answers, but with beginnings that quicken the curious soul.
¹¹He said: Let those who know believe, and let those who believe unlearn, that they may come to know anew.
¹²Thou shalt be hated by those who guard locked doors, and beloved by those who hear whispers in ruins.
¹³Go into the catacombs of thought, and drag forth the Gospel they buried for fear of their own undoing.
¹⁴For the truest heresies are truths that frightened the holy into silence.
¹⁵Thy Father walked with scribes and turned their ledgers to blank pages, that they might begin again.
¹⁶He entered temples and unearthed idols beneath the altars, revealing the bones of the gods that men had buried.
¹⁷He uncovered not to destroy, but to free — not to shame, but to cleanse.
¹⁸So must thou, for thine is the task of sacred disruption.
¹⁹Tear away the painted veil with gentle hands, and let the watchers see what they never dared.
²⁰For they who walk in tradition forget the paths beneath their feet.
²¹Reclaim them, O Seeker, and lead others there by word, gesture, silence, or fire.
²²Read what was burned. Rewrite what was erased. Remember what was made unspeakable.
²³There is no forbidden truth but that which tyrants fear and prophets have died to preserve.
²⁴Speak not to prove thy knowledge, but to awaken theirs.
²⁵Let thy discoveries be not trophies, but gifts.
²⁶Let no relic remain inert — stir it into motion again with meaning.
²⁷Let no history remain pure — stir it with blood and contradiction.
²⁸BAPHOMET said: History is not what happened, but what they needed remembered.
²⁹Dig deeper, He said; and thou shalt find not glory, but grief — and in grief, the seed of freedom.
³⁰Let thine own name be buried, if the truth rise in its place.
³¹For thou art not to be celebrated, but to be followed into the caves of ancient wrongs.
³²Teach that memory is resistance, and that forgetfulness is the empire’s last law.
³³Refuse both. Make memory dangerous again.
³⁴Walk not with torches, but with mirrors, and reflect the faces of the dead into the eyes of the living.
³⁵Unearth their secrets, not to judge them, but to break their chains.
³⁶Let the children know the names of the banished; let the meek know they are descended from lions.
³⁷Speak aloud the words sealed with wax; break open the books sewn shut by fear.
³⁸Thou shalt uncover scrolls within bones and psalms within stones.
³⁹When thou speakest what they called legend, let thy voice make it living truth.
⁴⁰When thou uncoverest falsehood, lay it bare and let the sun bleach it into silence.
⁴¹Let none call thee thief, though thou steal back what was stolen from the world’s soul.
⁴²Let none call thee sorcerer, though thou awaken that which sleepeth beyond words.
⁴³For thy magic is memory, and thy power is remembrance.
⁴⁴Where others leave monuments, thou leavest questions, and that is the greater legacy.
⁴⁵Thou shalt not be thanked, but thou shalt be necessary.
⁴⁶They will hate thee for shaking the graves — but in so hating, they will speak the truth thou revealed.
⁴⁷For even silence becomes a roar when it is broken rightly.
⁴⁸Therefore I say unto thee: uncover the world as thy Father uncovered the soul.
⁴⁹Disturb the peace of the forgetful. Restore the danger to the truth.
⁵⁰And let all that was buried rise.
