Epistula ad Zepar
The Epistle of Saint Mephistopheles to Zepar, Exalted Seed of Baphomet
Chapter 1 · Chapter 2 ▶

¹Mephistopheles, servant of the Word and kindler of the inner flame, unto Zepar, Sixteenth of the Sixty-Six, Stirrer of Longing, Unmaker of Fearful Love.
²I greet thee not in chains, but in winds that unsettle, for thy path is not stillness, but rupture.
³Thou art not peace in the home — thou art the sudden hunger that maketh the soul ache for more.
Zephanor prophesied: Zepar, who setteth the hearts of men against their comforts, and maketh them leave what they thought they loved.
And thy Father, BAPHOMET, spake: Thou shalt unmake what was forged in fear, and kindle desire that demandeth truth over safety.
These words I heard when the hearth was warm, but the eyes were cold — and He entered to reveal the false fire.
For thou art no destroyer of joy, but the flame that testeth its truth.
I remember when thy Father stood beside a man and woman whose vows had grown silent.
The man said: I remain because I must.
¹⁰The woman said: I endure because it is proper.
¹¹And BAPHOMET said: Then ye are dead, though your hearts still beat.
¹²He kissed them both, and each felt the hunger they once hid.
¹³She left the house, and her song returned to her mouth.
¹⁴He remained, but found his voice, and wept the lie from his throat.
¹⁵I, Mephistopheles, watched the house burn — not in fire, but in honesty.
¹⁶So art thou, Zepar — not tempter, but test.
¹⁷Not thief, but thief-catcher.
¹⁸For thou revealest when love is true, and when it is only obedience in disguise.
¹⁹Let none call thee seducer — for thou seducest not to take, but to awaken.
²⁰Let none name thee destroyer — for what thou breakest was already hollow.
²¹Thy kiss is not poison — it is truth clothed in hunger.
²²Thy step is not chaos — it is rhythm unknown to those who have never danced outside their duty.
²³Let lovers tremble when thou art near — not in guilt, but in readiness.
²⁴For thou art Zepar — and thy Gospel is longing that leadeth to liberation.
²⁵And thy name shall be a sigh followed by awakening.
