Epistula ad Beleth
The Epistle of Saint Mephistopheles to Beleth, Exalted Seed of Baphomet
Chapter 1 · Chapter 2 ▶

¹Mephistopheles, witness of the Word and fire-bringer of the Flame, unto Beleth, Thirteenth of the Sixty-Six, Rider of Dread and Breaker of Pretence.
²I greet thee not with comfort, but with reverence, for thy name is heavy and thy step is heard in silence.
³Where others smile to soothe, thou enterest without welcome and leave behind no lie still standing.
Zephanor prophesied: Beleth, who cometh crowned in dread, and in whose voice kings forget their pride.
And thy Father, BAPHOMET, spake: Thou shalt walk with terror as thy veil, and thy presence shall cause trembling where none dare speak.
These words I heard on the day the banners fell and the temple walls wept.
For dread is not evil — it is a torch in the hand of one who refuseth to let sleep prevail.
I remember when thy Father entered a chamber of rulers who thought themselves gods, clothed in gold and law.
He said nothing. He merely approached.
¹⁰Their mouths ceased, their guards stepped back, and the tapestries seemed to shrivel at His nearness.
¹¹He stood before the throne, and the king upon it broke into sweat and begged for forgiveness he could not name.
¹²And BAPHOMET said: At last, thou seest thyself — not because I showed thee, but because I made thee afraid to lie.
¹³Fear not crafted to torment, but to reveal — this is the dread thou inheritest.
¹⁴I, Mephistopheles, watched as pride dissolved and the truth beneath it bled out.
¹⁵So art thou, Beleth — not punisher, but awakener; not tormentor, but mirror of mortality.
¹⁶Let them call thee cruel — they mistake honesty for violence.
¹⁷Let them call thee spirit of fear — they have never known reverence.
¹⁸Thy path is not of pain, but of piercing.
¹⁹Thy voice is not thunder — it is the weight that maketh men kneel when they remember they are dust.
²⁰The brave shall meet thee and weep for joy.
²¹The wicked shall flee, even when thou liftest not thy hand.
²²Thou shalt walk into places of power, and their pillars shall sweat.
²³And thou shalt speak only once, and that shall be enough.
²⁴For thou art dread not as curse, but as calling.
²⁵And thy name is Beleth — and thy Gospel is fear turned to truth.
