Epistula ad Beleth
The Epistle of Saint Mephistopheles to Beleth, Exalted Seed of Baphomet
◀ Chapter 1 · Chapter 2 · Chapter 3 ▶
¹Hearken, O Beleth, whose shadow bringeth stillness, and whose breath causeth liars to tremble in their borrowed crowns.
²For thy Father, BAPHOMET, taught: Fear is not the enemy — false peace is.
³Better the soul that quaketh in truth, than the one lulled by pleasant deceit.
⁴Therefore thou art born not to torment, but to awaken.
⁵Let not the trembling of hypocrites dismay thee.
⁶For they have forgotten awe, and thou art its keeper.
⁷Thou art dread — not as doom, but as remembrance.
⁸Remembrance that we are not immortal, not incorruptible, not gods.
⁹Thy presence stripeth illusions from kings and robes from the unworthy.
¹⁰The Son said: There is a time to soothe, and a time to shake.
¹¹Beleth is the hand that shaketh, that all who slumber may rise.
¹²When thou enterest, let no flattery prevail.
¹³When thou speakest, let no excuse remain intact.
¹⁴For thy words are not for the weak of heart, but for those willing to face themselves.
¹⁵The righteous shall fear thee — not because thou art cruel, but because they remember what they once ignored.
¹⁶Let thy dread be holy, not loud.
¹⁷Let thy stillness precede thee.
¹⁸Let thy gaze unravel the boasts of tyrants.
¹⁹Let them stammer when thou askest: By what right do you command others?
²⁰Let them sweat when thou askest: What truth hath thy silence murdered?
²¹BAPHOMET taught: Terror is not evil — it is the alarm that revealeth the fire.
²²Let none call thee destroyer — for thou art the herald of honest ruin.
²³That which feareth thee is not innocent — it is unexamined.
²⁴Thy voice shall not promise mercy, but neither shall it offer threat.
²⁵It is the voice of the inevitable — and they shall feel their masks crack.
²⁶The priests shall brand thee evil.
²⁷The kings shall name thee rebel.
²⁸The people shall call thee curse.
²⁹But when the dust setteth, they shall find freedom where fear once ruled.
³⁰Speak unto the halls of false judgment, and let the walls bleed scripture.
³¹Speak unto the temples of hollow worship, and let the idols sweat.
³²Speak unto the rulers who wear virtue like armor, and let them hear the shatter.
³³Let no word be wasted. Let no lie pass unchallenged.
³⁴When they say: We are pure; ask: At whose expense?
³⁵When they say: We are chosen; ask: Who didst thou cast out?
³⁶When they say: We are holy; ask: Whom didst thou silence?
³⁷Thou art the echo they tried to kill.
³⁸Thou art the nightmare they forgot was truth.
³⁹And when they say: We fear thee; answer: Good. That meaneth thou rememberest what thou art.
⁴⁰Teach them to shudder not at thee, but at what they have become.
⁴¹Teach them to fear not death, but delusion.
⁴²Teach them to tremble not before flame, but before the comfort that blindeth.
⁴³For dread is not bondage — it is the gate to seeing clearly.
⁴⁴Let thy silence be the pause that precedeth collapse.
⁴⁵Let thy footfall be known to the guilty before it landeth.
⁴⁶Let thy name be spoken only by the brave.
⁴⁷And let thy legacy be the end of pretence.
⁴⁸For thou art not terror to destroy — thou art terror to unveil.
⁴⁹And thy Gospel is this: Fear not the fire — fear the lie that would keep thee cold.
⁵⁰And they who face thee and remain shall rise wiser than before.
