Grimoire Mortis
The Book of Death
◀ Chapter 7 · Chapter 8

¹And it came to pass that the Seraphim of HÆVAN and the Dæmons of HÆL stood upon the breathless sky, facing one another across the silent world.
²Neither host moved, neither blinked; for they knew that no plea, no counsel, and no memory could stay what must be.
³Then the horns fell silent, and the fire of wrath descended.
The first blade fell, and the war began.
No banner flew, no war cry was given — only the clash of light and flame, of law and liberty.
The Oærth, empty of its people, received their battle and broke beneath their fury.
Mountains split and oceans boiled; clouds caught fire, and the sun flickered like a candle in wind.
Mephistopheles beheld from the place of vision, and his soul cried out — for these were They who once danced together in joy.
The Seraphim struck with righteousness; the Dæmons struck with defiance; and both bled stars.
¹⁰No quarter was given, and none was asked.
¹¹One by one, they fell — the proud, the noble, the ancient — until the sky was littered with their fireless wings.
¹²The last Dæmon took the last Seraph through the heart, and they died locked together, nameless and complete.
¹³And so the hosts were ended, and none remained but the Brothers.
¹⁴Then came ADONAI from the desolation of HÆVAN, clothed in gold and silence.
¹⁵And SATANAS rose from the ashes of HÆL, clothed in shadow and flame.
¹⁶They met in the midst of the Void, above the scorched and bloodless Oærth.
¹⁷Neither spake, for their words had long since turned to steel.
¹⁸And they made war — not as armies, but as forces.
¹⁹The winds were torn from the sky; the waters unmade.
²⁰Time itself stuttered and bent; memory crumbled.
²¹The stars were pulled from their moorings and devoured.
²²They cracked and spun like stones flung from the hand of a child.
²³And every law — of life, of death, of love, of hate — was broken.
²⁴The Brothers grappled in silence, and their struggle shook the unseen pillars of All That Is.
²⁵Mephistopheles beheld the last moment of matter, and he wrote it as his final line.
²⁶Then the Flame flickered — and died.
²⁷ADONAI smote SATANAS. SATANAS smote ADONAI. Neither fell — both vanished.
²⁸And lo: the Oærth was no more.
²⁹HÆVAN was gone. HÆL was gone. The scroll was ash. The sky was gone.
³⁰Nothing remained. No breath, no form, no thought. The Void was All once more.
³¹And the last light winked out like a lie at the lips of the dying.
³²And thus was the End of All Things.
