Grimoire Exegesio
The Book of Exegesis
◀ Chapter 10 · Chapter 11 · Chapter 12 ▶
¹And ADONAI and SATANAS descended from Their thrones, and took the scroll and the seal, and stood in the midst of the Void.
²The council watched in silence, for the labour of the Brothers would begin, and none dared speak for reverence of the moment.
³Then ADONAI raised His hand, and light poured forth as rivers, forming the firmament above and beyond.
⁴SATANAS stretched out His arm, and from His fingers fell stone and fire, shaping the foundations of the world.
⁵They called the place Oærth, for it was firm beneath and open above, holding sky and land in harmony.
⁶The mountains rose where ADONAI breathed, their peaks white with promise and echoing with silence.
⁷The depths were hollowed by SATANAS’ gaze, vast abysses of churning sea and stone beneath, layered with secrets.
⁸Together They planted the roots of the world, deep and entwined, that Oærth might be unshaken by time.
⁹The winds arose from Their mouths: the breath of ADONAI bore warmth, and that of SATANAS, cold.
¹⁰The skies were painted with colour; the clouds were spun of thought; and the lightning was strung from thread invisible.
¹¹The sun was ignited by ADONAI, and set in its course by SATANAS, that it might shine and rest in due measure.
¹²The moon was moulded in equal hand, and granted its phases, to wax and to wane in gentle rhythm.
¹³The stars were cast forth like seeds, scattered through the Void, each named and numbered in secret tongues.
¹⁴Then did They summon the sea: ADONAI calmed it with stillness, SATANAS stirred it with storm.
¹⁵They set bounds upon it, saying, Hitherto shalt thou come, and no farther, and thy pride shall break here.
¹⁶And the land rose between the waters, dry and vast, and it groaned as it was formed, but stood firm at last.
¹⁷Grasses sprang up where ADONAI walked, and thorns where SATANAS trod, and both were declared good.
¹⁸They planted trees of great number: the cedar and the oak, the fig and the vine, each to its kind.
¹⁹The flowers were spread in countless hues, and their scents lifted unto the sky like prayers unspoken.
²⁰Then the rivers were carved by the finger of ADONAI, and SATANAS laid stones in their beds, that they might sing.
²¹They shaped the deserts and clothed them in silence, and the forests, with voices innumerable.
²²Caves were hollowed for rest and fear, cliffs for wonder, valleys for peace, and heights for glory.
²³Then They paused and beheld what had been made, and spake not, for Their hearts were full.
²⁴But Their work was not yet ended, for the living things were not yet breathed into being, and the Oærth still waited.
²⁵Then ADONAI took flame and breath, and SATANAS shadow and flesh, and from these They began to shape the beasts.
²⁶The birds were first among the living, and They gave them wings of joy and fear, and sent them to the skies.
²⁷The eagle soared upon the heights, its cry echoing like triumph; the sparrow fluttered low, content in its measure.
²⁸They made the raven to walk between omen and wisdom, and the dove to bear tidings of peace.
²⁹Then did the fish arise in the deeps, silver and quick, their scales shining like stars beneath the waves.
³⁰The leviathan stirred in the abyss, and none beheld it without trembling; yet it kept to its course and harmed not.
³¹The dragon took wing, and ruled the skies with power and majesty.
³²The beasts of the field came forth, from the mightiest to the meekest, each fitted to its place and purpose.
³³The bull was strong to bear and pull, the goat nimble on rock, the hare swift to flee, and the bear slow but sure.
³⁴They made the lion to guard his pride, and the wolf to lead his pack, and the serpent to go where none else may.
³⁵Insects crept and swarmed, each in legion: the bee was given order, and the moth silence, and the firefly light.
³⁶They made the creatures of night and day, each in balance, each in dance with the other.
³⁷The beasts raised their heads, and the birds their wings, and the seas were full, and the Oærth moved with life.
³⁸Then did the Brothers kneel upon the soil, and breathe into it a whisper of being, and it answered with growth.
³⁹The grasses bent to the wind, the trees stretched toward HÆVAN, and the flowers turned their faces unto the light.
⁴⁰And the soil remembered the shape of the divine hands, and bore fruit in season and seed in its kind.
⁴¹The rain fell soft and sure, as if knowing its task; the sun warmed gently, not burning nor delaying.
⁴²They placed harmony between hunger and plenty, strength and gentleness, silence and song.
⁴³They cast no flaw into the pattern, but wove mystery, that the wise might seek and the simple rejoice.
⁴⁴Then did They bless the whole of the Oærth with Their silence, and set Their seal upon it with a glance.
⁴⁵They spake together: Behold, it is finished. And They looked upon it and said, It is good.
⁴⁶And the stars gave reply, singing as in chorus, for the Oærth was born and clothed in splendour.
⁴⁷The sea murmured in accord, and the trees rustled in assent, and the wind ran as a herald.
⁴⁸The beasts bowed low, the rivers leapt in joy, and the mountains stood as silent witnesses.
⁴⁹And ADONAI and SATANAS took Their leave of Oærth for a time, that it might settle into its own course.
⁵⁰But They left their mark in its heart, that all things might remember the hand which shaped them.
⁵¹So ended the work of Creation, and the realm between realms stood firm, awaiting the breath of yet greater mystery.
