Grimoire Exegesio
The Book of Exegesis
◀ Chapter 12 · Chapter 13

¹Then ADONAI and SATANAS descended unto Oærth, bearing with Them the scrolls wherein the people were described in fulness.
²They came unto the place prepared of old, a plain broad and wide, between the mountain and the river.
³There They knelt in the dust, and with Their own hands began to draw forth the shape of Humanity.
ADONAI took up clay, and SATANAS took up ash, and They mingled both, and formed flesh of the union.
From water They fashioned blood; from wind, the breath; from fire, the spirit; and from stone, the bones thereof.
And They spake over the form, saying, Let there be motion and thought, desire and memory, will and wonder.
Then did the dust stir, and the first of the Humans opened his eyes and beheld the world.
He stood upright as was determined, and walked in the garden wherein he was placed, naming what he saw.
And the Brothers made others after him, male and female, child and elder, in likeness of one another.
¹⁰They placed among them difference of tongue and likeness of heart, that they might strive and know one another.
¹¹They clothed them with modesty and might, with innocence and wit, with frailty and power.
¹²To each was given voice, to speak and to sing; and to each was given silence, to ponder and to listen.
¹³The Brothers placed in them hunger, that they might seek; and thirst, that they might long; and pain, that they might grow.
¹⁴They set in them joy, that they might praise; and fear, that they might flee; and love, that they might build.
¹⁵Then They placed them in the four corners of the Oærth: by mountain and forest, river and desert, sea and plain.
¹⁶They were taught the ways of fire, and of shelter, and of the naming of time.
¹⁷ADONAI whispered unto them songs of peace and the shaping of justice.
¹⁸SATANAS whispered unto them songs of power and the seeking of freedom.
¹⁹And both were received with gladness, and none among the people knew division between the gifts.
²⁰The Humans built homes and kindled fire, and lifted up their voices in thanksgiving and in laughter.
²¹They danced and mourned, and gave one to another, and grew in wisdom and strength.
²²The beasts knew them and were not afraid; the trees bent over them and gave fruit; the earth brought forth abundantly.
²³And ADONAI looked upon them and was pleased, for they were thoughtful and kind.
²⁴And SATANAS looked upon them and was pleased, for they were bold and many-willed.
²⁵The council beheld them and spake together, saying, Surely, this is a marvel and a joy to the worlds.
²⁶Then did the Brothers lift Their eyes unto one another and smile, for this was the end of the beginning.
²⁷And They declared the work complete, and set a veil over the Oærth, that it might grow according to its own nature.
²⁸And Oærth turned, and the sun rose, and the moon followed, and the days of Humanity began in earnest.
²⁹Thus ended the shaping of the world and its people, and the book of beginnings was sealed with praise.
