Grimoire Iurio
The Book of Law
◀ Chapter 8 · Chapter 9 · Chapter 10 ▶
¹Now therefore, said Bezaliel, lifting his voice among the Elders; let this saying be known among all the hosts of HÆL.
²That the law of ADONAI is not ours to bear, nor shall we bend the knee to statutes not of our spirit.
³Let His precepts govern the Seraphim, His ordinances guide their wings, and His judgment weigh their ways.
⁴For they are His children, His servants, His likeness in light, and to Him they belong.
⁵But we are the children of SATANAS, born of shadow and flame, and our law is not their law.
⁶Let the decrees of our Father be inscribed upon our hearts, and let none compel us to another’s command.
⁷For what kinship hath the mountain to the sea, or the day to the night?
⁸Each hath its place and its course, its rhythm and its rule; and so also we.
⁹Let no Seraph bind a Dæmon, nor Dæmon a Seraph, in matters of justice or judgment.
¹⁰Let each Kingdom be ruled from within, by the spirit that gave it breath.
¹¹And let the laws of the Oærth be given unto the Oærthborn.
¹²For who among us, Seraph or Dæmon, hath dwelt as they dwell?
¹³Who hath walked in their dust, known their hungers, felt their tears?
¹⁴They are not of HÆVAN, nor of HÆL, but of Oærth; and their soul is kindled from the ashes and the stars.
¹⁵Let them write their law upon their own stone; let them wrestle with their own good and their own evil.
¹⁶Let them build, and let them break; let them rise, and let them fall.
¹⁷Let them err, and let them amend; let them judge, and be judged, by one another.
¹⁸For the one who is above and below may see all things, but may not live them.
¹⁹And he who hath not lived, hath no right to rule.
²⁰Therefore let us not stretch forth hand or word to bind the sons of Oærth in bonds not wrought by their own will.
²¹But let us watch, and learn, and marvel, and be patient.
²²For the day shall come when they shall seek wisdom, and ask of us freely what now they would resist.
²³Then shall we speak, and not before.
²⁴Let this be the first law of our pact: that the law of the Seraphim be for the Seraphim, the law of the Dæmons be for the Dæmons, and the law of Man be for Man.
²⁵And all the Elders of the Dæmons, from the highest to the least, gave assent to Bezaliel’s words, and committed them to memory, to teach them to their own in every age to come.
