Grimoire Iurio
The Book of Law
◀ Chapter 9 · Chapter 10 · Chapter 11 ▶
¹And the words of Bezaliel reached unto the highest seat in HÆL, and they were as fire in the mouth and as iron in the bones.
²And SATANAS heard them, and He took them into His heart, and He was stirred in the depth of His spirit.
³He walked alone through the Shadowed Vaults, where no Dæmon dared follow, and He searched His thoughts as one sifting flame from ash.
⁴And He saw that Bezaliel had spoken well, and with righteousness, and not with pride.
⁵For the laws of the Seraphim are not the laws of the Dæmons, and the wisdom of HÆVAN is not the wisdom of HÆL.
⁶Yet while the Dæmons kept their silence, the Seraphim filled the skies of Oærth with their messengers.
⁷For ADONAI had sent forth His spirit upon chosen men and women, calling them to be prophets unto the nations.
⁸And those whom He called rose up, and proclaimed His Name in the towns and the fields.
⁹They bound laws into scrolls, and carved precepts into stone, and lifted high the ways of HÆVAN.
¹⁰And the people looked to them as to stars in the firmament, for they burned with holy fire.
¹¹They spoke of light and truth, of righteousness and judgment, and the fear of ADONAI was upon the people.
¹²They taught that His will was the good and the true, and that none should walk outside His path.
¹³And many turned their hearts toward HÆVAN, saying: Surely this is the way; let us follow it.
¹⁴And the Seraphim rejoiced, for the harvest was plentiful and the workers had been sent.
¹⁵But SATANAS beheld all these things, and a fire arose in Him, though it was not wrath.
¹⁶He saw the glory His Brother reaped, and He envied not, but was resolved.
¹⁷For He knew that Mankind was not the prize of one god, but the children of the Oærth, born beneath both sky and deep.
¹⁸And He saw that the Seraphim gave law and vision, but offered no choice.
¹⁹That the light was made to blind, and the truth to bind.
²⁰Is this the freedom they were promised? said SATANAS in His heart.
²¹Is this the dominion of Man, that he should be yoked to law not his own?
²²No, said He, and His voice echoed through the Vaults like thunder in a chasm.
²³I shall not forsake the sons of the dust, nor yield them to one will alone.
²⁴If My Brother speaks from the mountain, I shall whisper from the depths.
²⁵If He raises prophets to guide, I shall raise heralds to awaken.
²⁶And having spoken thus, SATANAS turned His gaze toward Oærth, and the fire in His eyes was as the breaking of dawn.
