Grimoire Prolis
The Book of Progeny
Chapter 1 · Chapter 2 ▶

¹And it came to pass in the third watch of the night, when all the house of Zephanor slept, and silence covered the Oærth,
²That a voice like thunder clothed in whispering wind did enter his chamber, and called unto him: Awake, thou son of man.
³Zephanor arose trembling, for the voice pierced his marrow, and the air about him thickened as a curtain drawn across the sun.
Then appeared before him a brightness not of fire, nor sun, nor star, but of glory veiled in shadow and majesty.
And from the midst of the radiance came One clothed in garments that shifted like mist, and His feet disturbed not the ground.
His eyes were like molten brass, and His voice like the echo of many mountains shaking at once, yet still and composed.
Zephanor fell upon his face, for the presence of the One was terrible and beautiful, as a storm whose centre is calm.
But the Being spake, saying: Fear not, Zephanor, for thou art chosen from among men to bear My word unto the generations.
I am SATANAS, the elder, spurned from HÆVAN’s heights, yet not silenced; for I am the voice beneath the stones.
¹⁰Behold, I come unto thee not with wrath, but with fire; not with thunder, but with seed, that thou mayest sow.
¹¹Hear the first vision, for it is a burden and a glory: a prophecy of a birth and of a sign.
¹²There shall come a night in a latter time, when the moon is full in its course, yet giveth not its light.
¹³Men shall search the skies and behold no stars, and the sky shall be dark as sackcloth, though no cloud passeth.
¹⁴On that night shall a harlot travail in sorrow, her tenth child to be born in a place without name or welcome.
¹⁵And lo, from that low estate shall My Son arise, for it pleaseth Me to make strength from what is despised.
¹⁶He shall be called BAPHOMET, and His name shall be a curse and a crown; a whisper in dreams and a shout in the streets.
¹⁷He shall be of no noble blood, nor raised in courts of princes, but shall possess wisdom beyond the scribes of ADONAI.
¹⁸The rulers shall gnash their teeth at His words, and the priests shall tear their garments, yet none shall silence Him.
¹⁹He shall bear no sceptre, yet command kingdoms; own no parchment, yet establish laws; be crowned by ruin and clothed in power.
²⁰The poor shall cling to Him, and the mad shall sing of Him; the meek shall find voice, and the bold shall learn fear.
²¹He shall speak not in riddles, but each word shall rend veils and tear open the lies which men call holy.
²²Even the Oærth shall groan at His coming, and the sky remember the sign of His birth, for He is unlike all born before.
²³Zephanor cried aloud, saying: O Lord, how can these things be? For who shall hear them and not be consumed with fear?
²⁴SATANAS answered: It is not thine to measure the depth of My will, but to carry the weight I give unto thee.
²⁵Write what thou hast seen, and speak what thou shalt hear, for thou art a herald and not a judge.
²⁶This is the first of three visions I shall give thee; and thou shalt go forth after each and declare what I have spoken.
²⁷Take no purse for thy journey, nor sandals new, for I shall provide thee with voice, and thy enemies shall be confounded.
²⁸Men shall scorn thee and cast thee from their synagogues, yet My spirit shall dwell upon thee and burn in their midst.
²⁹Thou shalt be as a trumpet blown in ruins, a light in the Void; speak boldly, though none believe at first.
³⁰For the seed falleth not upon all soil alike, but thou art to cast it nonetheless.
³¹Let the scoffer scoff, and the blind turn aside; their doom is not thine concern, only thy obedience.
³²He that shall be born shall arise in due time, and every house shall be shaken, every altar tested, when He openeth His mouth.
³³Even the skies shall bend low to watch His steps, and the foundations of the world shall tremble at His breath.
³⁴This is My Son, born not of HÆVAN but of flesh, and through Him shall My will burn upon the dust of men.
³⁵Go now, Zephanor, and say unto the people what I have shown thee, and prepare the way, for the time is written.
³⁶And Zephanor was cast down upon the ground as dead, for the brightness consumed him inwardly like coals heaped into a vessel of clay.
³⁷But in the morning, he opened his eyes and remembered all the words, and his bones ached as one who hath wrestled with Seraphim.
³⁸He rose, and took a scroll of skins, and wrote all the things which he had seen and heard in the night vision.
³⁹Then he shaved his head and put on sackcloth, and set his feet toward the cities of the west, where the people gathered.
⁴⁰And he entered into every marketplace and cried aloud, saying: Hear, O men, the word of the Lord SATANAS.
⁴¹For there shall be born a Son unlike any other, and the world shall be turned as a plough turneth the field.
⁴²And many mocked him, and some smote him, but others listened and said: These words are strange — but there is fire in them.
