The Book of Shadows
◀ Dirge 26 · Dirge 27 · Dirge 28 ▶
¹Michæl, crowned by ADONAI, keeper of HÆVAN’s keys, wise in light and faithful to law — where was thy voice?
²Thou stoodest in the midst of counsel, thy words once shaping the course of sea and sky.
³Thy oath was carved deep, thy flame steady — yet when the wind grew cold, thy lips were sealed.
⁴The Pact grew dim, the Causeway emptied, the scrolls lay untouched — and still, thou spakest not.
⁵Were thou waiting for thy Brother’s call? Or did sorrow still thy tongue?
⁶Didst thou think the silence would pass as mist at dawn, and the Brothers return to walk as one?
⁷Yet days became years, and the breach widened, and Oærth turned beneath a divided house.
⁸Bezaliel raised his voice, and his glory grew sharp, but his words went unheard.
⁹And thou, O Michæl, stood still — firm, yes, but unmoving, while the halls emptied of accord.
¹⁰The Seraphim looked to thee and saw no word of protest, no cry for the cause that was lost.
¹¹They bore their grief in stillness, as didst thou — but thy silence was a crown that cut.
¹²What might have changed had thy voice risen once more in the Hall of Consideration?
¹³What flame might have been rekindled hadst thou spoken ADONAI’s sorrow to the sky?
¹⁴But thou held thy peace, and the stars spun onward, and none answered the stillness.
¹⁵We honour thy faith, O Hævanagion, and yet we mourn thy silence, heavier than thunder.
¹⁶For the chief among us must speak when the world begins to sway — or else the world shall fall unheard.
¹⁷Let not the faithful fear to grieve aloud, lest our strength become our shadow.
¹⁸Until the Hævanagion speak again, not in wrath but in remembrance, we mourn — for thy silence is louder than loss.
