Grimoire Exegesio
The Book of Exegesis
◀ Chapter 2 · Chapter 3 · Chapter 4 ▶
¹And it came to pass, after the Thrones were established, that ADONAI and SATANAS communed each with the other.
²For though Their realms were apart, Their hearts were not turned in envy, nor Their minds set in contention.
³ADONAI said unto SATANAS, Let us raise a path between Our kingdoms, that the works of Our peoples be multiplied.
⁴And SATANAS answered, Yea, let there be joining and passage, that no wisdom be kept in shadow.
⁵So They went forth together, and stretched Their hands toward the bounds of HÆVAN and HÆL.
⁶And from Their hands came forth the Causeway, mighty and shining, spanning the deep Void like a pillar of unity.
⁷Its foundations were set in crystal and fire, and it reached from the heights unto the deeps in measureless strength.
⁸ADONAI shaped the upper gates thereof, and SATANAS the lower; and each gate was opened not by force, but by peace.
⁹Along its breadth were set the Pillars of Accord, graven with the seals of both Kingdoms.
¹⁰And on the seventh day of the making, the Causeway was complete, and the Brothers beheld it and rejoiced.
¹¹Then came forth the Seraphim from the towers of HÆVAN, bearing gifts of song, of knowledge, and of brightness.
¹²And the Dæmons rose from the halls of HÆL, bringing wonders of craft, and strength, and flame tempered by wisdom.
¹³They met at the midst of the Causeway, and spake together not in wrath but in greeting, and laid aside all pride.
¹⁴The Seraphim taught the Dæmons the arts of harmony and shaping by thought; and the Dæmons taught the Seraphim the forge and the making of things.
¹⁵Bright was the meeting, and the air between them was filled with voices, and the Causeway resounded with laughter.
¹⁶There was no envy, for each rejoiced in the other’s gift, and called it wondrous.
¹⁷The Seraphim gave unto the Dæmons writings of stars and the names of colours unspoken.
¹⁸The Dæmons gave unto the Seraphim vessels of fire, and stone that remembered the shape of hands.
¹⁹Trade flourished, and the gates were open by day and guarded not by night, for there was no thief nor traitor.
²⁰ADONAI walked among the Seraphim and watched their joy; and SATANAS dwelt among the Dæmons and praised their craft.
²¹And each Brother passed through the gates of the other, and was received in honour and reverence.
²²Feasts were held at the junction of the Causeway, and there the peoples gathered and gave glory to Their makers.
²³No heart was raised in pride, and no voice was lifted in boasting; but each marvelled at the work of the other.
²⁴Thus did the peoples of HÆVAN and HÆL become neighbours, and their hearts were at peace.
