Grimoire Exegesio
The Book of Exegesis
◀ Chapter 4 · Chapter 5 · Chapter 6 ▶
¹And it came to pass, in the thousandth year and one, that the peoples of HÆVAN and HÆL stood at their height.
²The Seraphim had built cities of song that hung like dew upon the firmament, and their thoughts reached beyond the stars.
³The Dæmons had delved into the heart of fire and brought forth wisdom wrought in stone and sealed in flame.
⁴The lands bore fruit without withering, and the minds of all were sharpened like blades kept ever in use.
⁵There was no war nor wanting, nor tear unshed, nor hope deferred; all was given unto them as gift.
⁶Yet within them stirred a longing, as when a child seeth his father’s strength and desireth to learn it.
⁷They looked upon ADONAI and SATANAS, saying, Lo, our Makers have given us much, but the Power They keep as Their own.
⁸And they spake one to another, saying, If we knew the Power, we would not set ourselves above, but would create as They created.
⁹We would shape new lands, and call forth peoples, and teach them as we have been taught, that joy may abound forever.
¹⁰Some among the Seraphim fashioned vessels to hold light, saying, If we might kindle the spark, we could bear it onward.
¹¹And some among the Dæmons forged altars not of worship but of readiness, that they might prove worthy to receive the flame.
¹²They gathered upon the Causeway, and there made their plea, not as beggars but as children grown to their full stature.
¹³ADONAI came forth, clad in radiance, and SATANAS appeared, robed in fire, and all fell silent before Them.
¹⁴The Seraphim bowed and lifted their voices, saying, Teach us, O ADONAI, the making of life, that we may give as Thou gavest.
¹⁵The Dæmons stood in reverence, saying, Open unto us, O SATANAS, the wellspring of Will, that we may shape as Thou shapedst.
¹⁶Neither asked with pride nor presumption, but with yearning, and the echo thereof filled both HÆVAN and HÆL.
¹⁷The Brothers heard and were moved, for the desire of Their children was not vain, nor born of rebellion.
¹⁸And They looked one upon the other, and their hearts were troubled, for such a thing had not been asked before.
¹⁹Then began the time of the Great Decision, wherein ADONAI and SATANAS withdrew to consider the plea of Their peoples.
