Grimoire Exegesio
The Book of Exegesis
◀ Chapter 5 · Chapter 6 · Chapter 7 ▶

¹And ADONAI ascended unto His mountain in the heights of HÆVAN, and SATANAS descended into the depths of His holy fire.
²For a space of seven days, there was silence between Them, and the realms waited, holding breath as one.
³On the eighth day, the Brothers met in the midmost hall of the Causeway, alone, without Seraph nor Dæmon in attendance.
There They sat upon twin thrones of light and flame, and the place was called the Hall of Consideration.
ADONAI spake first, saying, The plea is just, and the yearning pure, but the end thereof is hidden from us.
SATANAS answered, saying, They seek not dominion, but creation; not to rise above Us, but to walk in Our steps.
Yet We must ask: What shall become of free makers with no hand above to guide, nor word to still their folly?
And ADONAI replied, Is not folly the price of greatness, and peril the shadow of true will?
Then said SATANAS, Shall We gift them the fire, and not also the wisdom to bear it? Or shall We withhold both and see them yearn forever?
¹⁰Thus began the year of deliberation, which the Seraphim called the Season of Waiting, and the Dæmons, the Year of Fire Veiled.
¹¹Each week the Brothers met and reasoned, turning the matter as one turneth a gem to find every face and flaw.
¹²Sometimes ADONAI was moved to mercy, and would say, Let Us give them the Power, and walk with them still.
¹³Sometimes SATANAS was swayed to caution, and would say, Let Us wait, lest the fruit ripen not upon the branch.
¹⁴The stars marked the days in silence, and neither HÆVAN nor HÆL was lessened, though joy was subdued.
¹⁵The Seraphim continued in patience, weaving songs of hope and of stillness, trusting in the goodness of their Lord.
¹⁶The Dæmons held counsel in the deep, refining their questions as metal in the furnace, sharpening thought upon thought.
¹⁷None rose in rebellion, and none murmured in wrath, for the faith of both peoples was steadfast.
¹⁸After Their deliberations, They returned to the Hall, each bearing a sealed word of judgment, though not yet opened.
¹⁹In determination and triumph, They stood together once more and looked into the face of the other.
²⁰Their eyes held sorrow and wonder both, and the skies shook not with thunder, but with silence heavy and profound.
²¹And the year ended, and the decision was made, and the Brothers made ready to reveal it unto the people.
