Grimoire Fugus
The Book of Fugue
◀ Chapter 3 · Chapter 4 · Chapter 5 ▶

¹But in the halls of HÆVAN, ADONAI beheld the doings of His people and His countenance was shadowed with heaviness.
²For they dwelt among the children of SATANAS, and their lot was cast beneath the sceptre of a stranger.
³Though the land was fair and their increase abundant, the pride of ADONAI was stirred as coals within the flame.
He said within Himself, Shall My chosen serve beneath another? Shall they forget the strength of My hand?
The songs they sing are not unto Me alone, but mingle with those of the nations, and their tongues are made unclean.
The daughters of Egypt teach them to dance, and the sons of Egypt teach them to build, and they delight therein.
Their laws are no longer from My mouth, but from the mouths of judges that know Me not.
In their hearts they say, Lo, we have peace; what need have we of the mountain or the fire thereon?
They offer no more in My name alone, but bring incense unto the gods of the land and call it wisdom.
¹⁰The covenant is as a garment left in the sun, and the colour thereof hath faded.
¹¹Shall I look on forever and be still? Shall My jealousy sleep while they forget Me in the comfort of their tents?
¹²The stranger ruleth them with a gentle rod, yet still it is a rod, and their necks are bowed.
¹³I made them not for servitude but for glory; I called them not for ease but for My own purpose.
¹⁴Let Me rise and stir the still waters, that they may remember the strength of their god.
¹⁵Let them be troubled in heart, and sore in soul, until they seek Me and cry out once more.
¹⁶For the peace of the present shall pass, and the burden of truth shall weigh upon them as a stone.
¹⁷I shall not strike with plague, nor speak with thunder, but shall move as a whisper in the dark.
¹⁸They shall not know My hand, yet it shall move among them, and their sleep shall be broken.
¹⁹They shall say one to another, Why is our peace departed? Why is our heart restless within us?
²⁰And thus shall they remember Me, and turn their faces toward the land I gave to their fathers.
²¹Then shall they cry, not to Pharaoh, nor to SATANAS, but to ADONAI alone, and I shall be their guide.
