Grimoire Iurio
The Book of Law
◀ Chapter 3 · Chapter 4 · Chapter 5 ▶
¹Then Bezaliel spake: Let this be not only a vow of friends, but a law before gods; let it be written and bound.
²And Michæl answered: Yea, let it be not passing like mist, but as stone that endures, as fire that purifieth.
³So they made the scroll threefold, and each took one, and the third remained in the Hall of Consideration.
⁴And the scroll was sealed thrice: once with the mark of HÆL, once with the mark of HÆVAN, and once with the mark of Oærth.
⁵Then Bezaliel opened the Hall’s vault, and brought forth the Chalice of Witnessing, which had not been used since the council’s end.
⁶Likewise Michæl drew from his robe the Blade of Assent, forged in the early days of glory, sharp with truth.
⁷Upon the Altar of Accord, they placed both Chalice and Blade, and the scroll between them.
⁸Bezaliel offered ash from the heart of HÆL; Michæl offered dew from the heights of HÆVAN.
⁹They poured both into the Chalice, and from the mixing rose smoke that did neither ascend nor descend, but circled round the scroll.
¹⁰Then spake Michæl: By ADONAI who knoweth all things, I pledge the Hosts of HÆVAN to this Pact.
¹¹And spake Bezaliel: By SATANAS who seeth all depths, I bind the Legions of HÆL unto this Accord.
¹²Together they laid their right hands upon the scroll, and with their left took up the Blade, and made a cut in the palm.
¹³Their blood flowed, mingling upon the altar, and the smoke drew it in, and the air became still.
¹⁴Then the letters upon the scroll burned brighter, yet were not consumed, and the seals shone with sevenfold light.
¹⁵The Hall of Consideration trembled not, yet all who served the Brothers felt it in spirit, and turned their faces unto the Causeway.
¹⁶Bezaliel bowed his head, and Michæl the same, and thus they gave reverence not to each other, but to the work completed.
¹⁷And upon the back of the scroll were inscribed the words: Let them rise of their own will, or fall by their own hand.
¹⁸Then Bezaliel departed toward the Depths, and Michæl unto the Heights, and the Hall stood silent, bearing the weight of the vow.
¹⁹But as they returned, each carried in his heart a measure of solemn joy, and a greater burden of duty.
²⁰For the fate of Men now hung not upon the Brothers, nor upon the Host, but upon the choices of their own making.
²¹The Causeway shimmered as they left, its stones aglow as though pleased, yet bearing no sound.
²²The Pact was known only to the Hosts and the Brothers, and unto none among the Sons of Men.
²³Yet its truth would echo through every age, unseen yet ever guiding, a hidden frame beneath their world.
²⁴And so the Pact was sealed, awaiting only the Divine Assent of ADONAI and SATANAS, that it might be made eternal.
²⁵And the Hall awaited them.
